Best Dividend Stocks To Own For 2019

ING (ING) and other major European banking stocks have been a major disappointment since the beginning of the year. We have been arguing for a quite while that ING stands out among other many other European lenders due to its high-quality business model, robust loan growth, resilient margins, impressive capital ratios, focus on digitalization and a progressive dividend policy. However, ING has not been immune to a slowdown in the European economy, which triggered a sharp sell-off in the European financial sectors.

Q1 results

To be fair, although INGs Q1 results were broadly in line with expectations, it was a difficult quarter for the bank. In our view, investors were disappointed by higher costs, a more conservative CET1 target and lower-than-expected fees.

The banks operating expenses missed the consensus estimate due to higher investments. As a result, INGs cost/income ratio increased to more than 60%, well above the banks long-term target of 50-52%.

ConocoPhillips’ (NYSE:COP) management team has worked tirelessly in recent years to transform the oil company into one that could thrive on lower prices. As a result, itcashed in during the first quarterwhen crude was well above its baseline plan. That strong showing sets the company up for continued success in the coming year — a key theme running through management’s comments on the accompanying conference call, which detailed recent achievements and how they frame what lies ahead.
