DS Smith PLC (SMDS.LN) said Wednesday that it expects fiscal 2018 return on sales to be in line with that of the previous year, and overall trading to be in line with its expectations.

The supplier of recycled packaging for consumer goods expects return on sales for the second half of the year to be higher compared with the first half, driven by recent increases in paper prices and its strong top-line growth.

A consensus estimate provided by FactSet forecast fiscal 2018 revenue at 5.7 billion pounds ($7.9 billion). The company reported first-half revenue of GBP2.8 billion.

The company said that it is very pleased with its progress in the third quarter and that its North America business is performing ahead of initial expectations as its packaging volume growth is significantly ahead of the group average rate.

    The soda conglomerate crushed its first-quarter results Tuesday, April 24, reporting organic sales growth of 5% and beating Wall Street projections for both earnings per share and revenue. Coke’s recent growth, however, was driven largely by beverages outside of its eponymous brands, though Diet Coke generated volume growth, thanks to its recent repackaging campaign. In its report, the company underscored its expansion strategy and hinted at further deals to come.

The communications equipment provider reported $0.23 earnings per share for the quarter, missing the consensus estimate of $0.30 by ($0.07), Bloomberg Earnings reports. The firm had revenue of $730.00 million for the quarter, compared to the consensus estimate of $726.38 million. Ciena had a return on equity of 14.10% and a net margin of 27.76%. The firm’s quarterly revenue was up 3.3% on a year-over-year basis. During the same quarter in the previous year, the business earned $0.45 EPS.
