It’s very common for a stock to drop when it misses earnings estimates, but NVR’s (NYSE:NVR) 8% stock drop after it beat earnings expectations is quite a rare case. A strange stock move like this raises a lot of questions about what happened with the quarter and what we can expect.

What happened

Shares of Rogers Corp. (NYSE:ROG) gained 19.9% in April 2017, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence.

So what

Now what

Best of all, Rogers is winning competitive contracts without resorting to pricing discounts. Trailing operating margins have increased from 12.4% to 14.2% over the last four quarters. In other words, clients are choosing Rogers over rival materials providers for other reasons than low prices, such as product quality and dependable ordering and delivery processes.

Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Watch For 2018

To get rich, you have to be making money while you’re asleep.– David Bailey

Investors in stocks should absolutely love this quote, because stocks can make you filthy rich, provided you can find ones that have stood the tests of time and can continue to do so, without your having to constantly check on them. It could be a company’s dominance and moat(s) in a growing industry, or its focus on the next megatrend — if it can capitalize on the opportunities, you should be able to earn solid returns.

Right now, I believe Mastercard (NYSE:MA), Brookfield Renewable Partners(NYSE:BEP), and XPO Logistics(NYSE:XPO) fall right into place, because each stock has been a multibagger and has strong tailwinds behind it.

Brookfield Renewable Partners: A bet on the clean energy megatrend

Clean energy is one big trend that’s gradually taking shape, and companies that have already dived into alternative sources of energy should be major beneficiaries. Brookfield Renewable Partners is a fine example.

Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Watch For 2018: BlackBerry Limited(BBRY)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jack Foley]

BlackBerry(NSDQ:BBRY)stock is a very volatile stock. When the company announced its latest set of earnings on the 20th of December, the share price rose to around $8 a share, but since then has plummeted back down to the $7 level. Blackberry is unique in that it is a low priced stock but is just as liquid as many of its peers. This combined with the volatility of the tech sector attracts all types of investors and traders as volatility is a guarantee (which we have obviously seen over the past week or so).

  • [By Abdul Jawula] BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) tries to revive the brand but is it too little too late for BBRY stock?

BlackBerry (NSDQ:BBRY) had a smartphones market share of 20% in 2009, which has dropped off a cliff to 0.1% in present day. Blackberry has tried to revive the brand many times. However, they had a similar problem likeMicrosoft (NSDQ:MSFT)hadwith the Windows Phone project. Their refusal to adopt Android resulted in their smartphones becoming less-and-less desirable.

Canada-based BlackBerry Ltd. (NSDQ:BBRY)announced as part of its latest earnings release, that it would become a pure software solutions company, discontinuing its handset business. This made investors apprehensive about BlackBerrys survival. BBRY stock hasn’t done muchin the last one year either. With BlackBerry focusing all its energy on software, where could the next growth engine come from? Could it even take BlackBerry remotely close to its good old glory days? Well, BlackBerry might just have found the answer.

For those remaining QWERTY keyboard aficionados out there, BlackBerry (BBRY)  hardware partner TCL launched the BlackBerry KeyOne, a phone that pairs a 4.5-inch display with a physical keyboard and BlackBerry apps/services. It sells for $549 unsubsidized.

BlackBerry’s (NSDQ:BBRY)turnaround has been moving at snail’s pace. In that context, BlackBerry’s deal with Ford (NYSE:F) to expand usage of its QNX software in the latter’s line of connected cars was welcome news. Many see BBRY’s focus on automotive technology as a potential profit center. Norwegian security firm, Promon, recently gave a demonstration of howTesla (NSDQ:TSLA) cars can be stolen by hackers through the company’s official android application, which many car owners use to interact with their vehicles. This was one of the latest unflattering events to take place for Tesla. But this very news can be good for Blackberry. Here’s why.

Top 10 Safest Stocks To Invest In Right Now

1. Blame the bonds: The normally boring bond market is causing serious drama on Wall Street.

An avalanche of selling sent the Dow and S&P 500 careening 5% lower last week, one of the stock market’s worst weeks since the 2008 financial crisis.

The culprit: Rapidly rising bond yields are alarming investors who got hooked on a decade of low interest rates.

So what’s going on here? And why the focus on the bond market?

Modern financial markets function on the belief that U.S. government debt is the safest investment on the planet.

Knowing how much they can earn from “risk-free” Treasury bonds allows investors to determine the cost of stocks and other riskier assets. Treasuries serve as the benchmark for all other forms of credit, from junk bonds to mortgages.

“The 10-year Treasury sets the price for every asset in the world,” said Brent Schutte, chief investment strategist at Northwestern Mutual.

That means the surge in the 10-year yield from 2.4% earlier this year to about 2.8% now — has increased the cost of money generally.

For whatever reason, rather than having no dividend at all, Joy Global (NYSE:JOY), Textron (NYSE:TXT), and Global Payments (NYSE:GPN) maintain the tiniest of quarterly payments. Let’s look more closely at these stocks to see why they do what they do with their dividends.
