Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Own Right Now

There’s reason to think that President Trump might target uranium imports for tariffs after imposing them on solar equipment back in January and then another announcing another round late last week on steel and aluminum (China has already responded by announcing planned tariffs on imports of U.S. pork, recycled aluminum, steel pipes, fruit and wine). At first glance, you might think that would cause concern for investors in small cap mining stocks like Azincourt Energy Corp (TSX-V: AAZ; OTCMKTS: AZURF) which is focused on developing critical clean energy elements (namely lithium, uranium and cobalt plus other critical clean energy elements) mostly in Canada.

However, Trump did quickly declared a temporary exemption from his tariffs for the European Union and other nations like Australia and South Korea as the tariffs are clearly meant to hit China. The NAFTA countries of Canada and Mexico were also exempted; but those exemptions “are not open-ended” and will depend on whether changes are made to NAFTA that will satisfy Trump.

Story

In the trailing ten years ERIC has earned their market cap in free cash flow. This is a signal the company may be undervalued. If ERIC can repeat the performance and earn over $19B in the coming ten years. In a market where many companies are being valued at twice or three times as much free cash flow as they’ve generated over the trailing ten years, this factor alone makes ERIC a relative bargain.

Hot Stocks To Watch Right Now: Fossil Inc.(FOSL)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Dan Caplinger]

At the intersection of fashion and watches, you’ll find Fossil Group (NASDAQ:FOSL). The watchmaker has established itself as a key brand in the retail niche, but the shift toward more functional wearable devices threatened to take away its key dominance in its core market. It’s taken time for Fossil to develop a workable strategy to fight back, and shareholders have had to suffer while Fossil’s efforts take more concrete shape. Yet last quarter, Fossil raised eyebrows with solid results that suggested a turnaround in the works.

Top Warren Buffett Stocks To Invest In Right Now

Elon Musk recently took aim at the idea a successful business needs a “moat” — a competitive advantage that keeps rivals at bay. The pace of innovation, he said, is more important in the long run.

On Saturday, Warren Buffett and his business partner, Charles Munger, shot back.

“Elon says a conventional moat is quaint, and that’s true of a puddle of water,” Munger, 94, said. “It’s ridiculous. Warren does not intend to build an actual moat. Even though they’re quaint.”

Munger and Buffett, 87, were responding to a question at Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s annual meeting about Musk’s comments this week. The pair often talk about trying to expand the “moats” around their businesses.

“First of all, I think moats are lame,” Musk said during an earnings call for his Tesla Inc. on May 2. “They’re like nice in a sort of quaint, vestigial way. But if your only defense against invading armies is a moat, you will not last long. What matters is the pace of innovation. That is the fundamental determinant of competitiveness.”

Top Warren Buffett Stocks To Invest In Right Now: ENERGY TRANSFER PARTNERS(ETP)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By ]

That, by itself, doesn’t mean their dividends are on solid ground. However, Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE: ETP) deserves a closer look. Like many master limited partnerships (MLPs), it has pulled back over the past week because of a new ruling from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which regulates tariffs on interstate pipelines.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

While ONEOK is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in the country, one thing others have that it lacks is an export terminal. An analyst on the call pointed this out and asked how aggressively the company was pursuing exports given that rivals Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE:EPD) and Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE:ETP) recently signed joint ventures (JVs) to build new export terminals. In Enterprise’s case, it signed a JV to construct an ethylene export facility to move the key petrochemical to market centers. Meanwhile, Energy Transfer secured a JV to build an ethane export facility. Both projects should start up in 2020 and supply thesecompanies with steady cash flow for years via long-term, fee-based contracts.

The market has pummeled master limited partnerships (MLPs) over the past few years due to the impact the oil market downturn had on their operations and business model. Among the hardest-hit have been oil pipeline MLP Plains All American Pipeline (NYSE:PAA) and gas pipeline giant Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE:ETP), both of which have lost more than half their value over the last three years. That persistent slump comes even though their turnaround strategies are beginning to gain steam. While these companies still have some work to do before they’re back on solid ground, both could deliver significant returns as they complete their plans and the oil market continues rebounding over the next few years. That upside potential makes them compelling options for investors with a higher tolerance for risk.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE:ETP) is among the highest yielding companies in the MLP space at nearly 13%. That’s mainly due to the market’s fears that the company’s distribution isn’t sustainable because of its weaker financial metrics. While those numbers have improved in recent quarters, they still have a way to go.

  • [By ]

Energy Transfer Partners LP (NYSE: ETP)
Formerly Sunoco Logistics Partners, ETP focuses on transport and storage of crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids (NGLs). Headquartered in Texas (where else?), ETP manages a portfolio that includes more than 71,000 miles of pipeline as well as marketing services.

Top 10 Safest Stocks To Buy For 2019

On the lookout for safe dividends? (Who isn’t, right?)

These days, you generally have three options: large-cap stocks with long dividend histories, municipal bonds and US Treasuries.

Treasuries are considered the safest of that group, and large-cap stocks the riskiest, but they’re still much safer than plenty of other investments, such as small caps and junk bonds.

I’ll show you two low-risk investments that are great buys now in a moment. But first, I want to tell you why recent events have called the safety of some of the options I just named into question.

Let’s start by looking at the following chart:

“Safe” Assets Turn Volatile

First, note how the iShares S&P National AMT-Free Municipal Bond Fund (MUB), a good proxy for municipal bonds as a whole, is the least volatile of the three funds shown above. But right now, it faces a steep downturn relative to its earlier stability.

J.M. Smucker(SJM) is falling Monday, after Morgan Stanley’sMatthew Grainger and his team cut their rating on the stock, citing pricing pressures from Wal-Mart (WMT) and growing competition from private-labels.

    Getty Images

Grainger slash Smucker to Underweight from Equal Weight, and shaved $6 off his price target, to $126. He also cites what he calls “sustained” challenges in both its coffee and pet food business, as well as“below-average strategic optionality.”

At the same time, he also upgraded Pinnacle Foods (PF) to Overweight from Equal Weight, and raised his price target to $63 from $58, on its double-digit earnings growth and what he sees as superior execution.

Nonetheless, he sees many of the packaged food companies in his coverage, from Smucker to Pinnacle, as subject to pressure from Wal-Mart and off-brand rivals. From the note:

Walmart comprises ~22% of sales across our coverage, a figure that has increased in recent years even as the retailers total grocery sales have grown at an even faster 4% CAGR. With Food margins expected to expand meaningfully, we believe this only enhances Walmart’s negotiating leverage going forward. SJM, Dean Foods (DF), and General Mills (GIS) are most at risk in the current environment, in our view.

Recent scanner data points to a positive inflection in private label trends (share up ~30 bps L12W) across a range of center-store categories, a dynamic we believe could intensify in an increasingly competitive retail grocery landscape. Our analysis of recent trends points to the most meaningful underperformance vs. private label at GIS, SJM, ConAgra (CAG), and Campbell Soup (CPB), while only PF has outperformed in recent weeks.

Smucker is down 1.1% to $127.95 this morning, while Pinnacle is up 0.8% to %48.47.

Top 10 Safest Stocks To Buy For 2019: Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc.(GMCR)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jonas Elmerraji]

As badly as short sellers want to hate on Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR), betting against the multiyear rally in this $12.7 billion beverage stock has been about as wise as eating from a box with a skull and crossbones on it. And as a bull market continues to lift all ships, Green Mountain’s ship is going to keep floating above the others.

Green Mountain owns Keurig, the brand of beverage brewers that use self-contained K-Cups to make coffee, teas, and other drinks. While Keurig’s “fad” status has certainly helped tip the deck against GMCR, the fact remains that the firm has done most of the hard work in getting Keurig machines accepted by consumers. With brewers essentially ubiquitous at this point, the firm is able to make money on its cash cow: the K-Cups.

Keurig’s individual-serving cups have big margins and a big installed base. With huge convenience and the relatively large sunk cost that consumers have put into their Keurig machines, it’s a sticky business with big switching costs. Consumers who buy a Keurig are much less likely to spend the money on a competing brand of proprietary coffee pods.

I’ve said before that GMCR is far from cheap right now. But its momentum trajectory is showing few signs of fizzling out, especially as direct competitors such as Starbucks (SBUX) continue to sell K-Cups of their own. Don’t bet against GMCR in September – buy this Rocket Stock instead.

  • [By David Sterman]

But for short sellers in Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (Nasdaq: GMCR), there's another outcome: They've been badly burned as shares have surged, but they insist they've been right all along, and it's only a matter of time before the stock crashes and burns.

Top 10 Safest Stocks To Buy For 2019: Roadrunner Transportation Systems, Inc(RRTS)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Dan Caplinger]

Tuesday was another down day for the Dow Jones Industrials, which fell more than 100 points to drop further below the 20,000 level. But broader market measures were mixed, and the Nasdaq Composite even managed to gain ground. Continued uncertainty about the impact of new policies from the U.S. federal government have kept markets a bit turbulent, and the beginning of a two-day meeting of the Federal Reserve’s Open Market Committee could set the tone for monetary policy in 2017. Some stocks had bad news that sent them lower today, and among the worst performers were Seadrill (NYSE:SDRL), Roadrunner Transportation Systems (NYSE:RRTS), and Tempur Sealy International (NYSE:TPX). Below, we’ll look more closely at these stocks to tell you why they did so poorly.

Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Watch Right Now

The conventional wisdom about investing says to manage and avoid risk. Buy solid companies. Hold for the long term. “It’s far better to buy a wonderful company at a fair price than a fair company at a wonderful price,” as Warren Buffett put it.

Of course, that’s not nearly as fun — and, indeed, it’s not always the best advice. Higher-risk, higher-reward plays should have a place in younger investors’ portfolios, in particular. And a little bit of risk can add some focus — and potentially some return — to diversified holdings for older investors as well.

Toward that goal, here are 10 high-risk but high-reward, stocks. It’s worth reiterating that these stocks only are for risk-tolerant investors and only for a small part of a portfolio.

And in all cases, investors need to make their own decisions as to which side of the trade to take. These stocks are likely to move big, but that can cut both ways.

Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Watch Right Now: ON Semiconductor Corporation(ON)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By ]

Though concerns have been raised that the analog and MCU markets are at risk of seeing an inventory correction (they haven’t had a major one in a while), given signs of excessive ordering and stretched lead times, TI and STMicro’s numbers suggest conditions remain good for now. That’s particularly true in industrial and auto markets where trends such as factory automation, ADAS adoption and electric/hybrid car sales are boosting chip demand. Several other analog/MCU firms, including Microchip (MCHP) , ON Semiconductor (ON) , Maxim Integrated (MXIM) and NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) , will be reporting soon.

The company is in the midst of a transformation from a seller of commodity discrete chips into higher value added analog integrated circuits, both through organic growth and acquisitions.
