Hot Undervalued Stocks To Own For 2019

Investors in NorthStar Realty Europe (NYSE:NRE) woke up to news Tuesday morning that one of the company’s largest investors is looking to shake things up at the company. Senvest Management, which owns 9.55% of NorthStar, is pushing the company’s external advisor, Colony Capital (NYSE:CLNY), to realize value at the undervalued European REIT, after years of a stagnating stock price.

Senvest outlined three major ways for Colony to proceed, though I think only one way will be acceptable to Colony. So here’s what investors in NorthStar should know about this potential activist attack.

Senvest goes on the offensive

By way of background, NorthStar Realty Europe was spun off as an externally managed REIT from NorthStar Realty Finance in 2015. Since then, the stock has traded consistently below its net asset value (NAV), which is $20.95 per shareas of June 30. While NorthStar Realty Europe has taken moves to realize some value, including paring down its portfolio of real estate and repurchasing stock at major discounts, the stock has never gotten close to that NAV figure. In addition, the company renegotiated its onerous management contract with Colony. Colony owns 11.3% of NorthStar.

Hot Undervalued Stocks To Own For 2019: Xcel Energy Inc.(XEL)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Maxx Chatsko]

Late last year, Xcel Energy (NASDAQ:XEL) became the first utility to publicly and boldly commit to generating all of its electricity from 100% carbon-free sources by 2050. While individuals and groups who take environmental stewardship seriously cheered the news, individual investors and Wall Street analysts should be cheering, too.

  • [By Maxx Chatsko]

Xcel Energy (NASDAQ:XEL), which owns one of two investor-owned utilities in the state, has already exceeded the 30% target. But it knows even more ambitious standards are coming in the not-too-distant future. That’s why it’s proposed an ambitious new power plan to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) that would allow the company to generate 55% of its power in the state from renewables by 2026. It would also double the company’s current total solar capacity.

It gets even better with dividend stocks, which can raise the payout regularly, further boosting your returns and making it easier to hold through the market’s ups and downs. We asked three Motley Fool investors who know a thing or two about finding great dividend stocks to identify their top dividend stock ideas; they made compelling arguments for Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. (NYSE:BIP), Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE:WM), and Xcel Energy Inc. (NASDAQ:XEL).

Between social media and all the talking heads on television, investors put up with a lot of useless noise when it comes to stock market.

The information flows thick and fast. Dramatic headlines that spew from financial websites (uh, even this one at times) make it tough for investors to keep their eyes on the prize. Unless youre a trader, youre better off tuning it all out, says Nick Maggiulli, writing for the Of Dollars and Data blog.

Top Stocks To Buy Right Now: Toro Company (TTC)

In his “Homework” segment, Cramer followed up on a few stocks that had stumped him during earlier shows. He said that he’s taking a pass on Toro (TTC) , a stock that’s just off its highs and trades at a premium to rival Deere & Company (DE) .

  • [By Mitchell Clark]

The Toro Company (NYSE:TTC) is one of my favorite small-caps for medium- to long-term investors. Selling specialized equipment for turf management and other industries, Toro is a proven winner that has provided very consistent growth in sales and earnings over the years.

It’s not the fastest growing small-cap business, but it pays a decent dividend and has a loyal customer base in the golf course and contractor markets.

Toro is now offering sprinkler refit equipment for water-starved jurisdictions like California. This company’s share price performance has been exemplary.

The rise of wind power wouldn’t have been possible without two companies in particular, which combine to own 20.7 gigawatts of wind capacity, or about 24% of the country’s total. Investors wouldn’t be surprised to learn that clean energy provider NextEra Energy is one of the renewable energy stocks most important to American wind power. However, the relatively unheard of natural gas and electric utility Xcel Energy (NASDAQ:XEL) doesn’t seem to garner nearly the same level of attention. Overlooking it could be a mistake.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By John Udovich]

Thanksgiving is almost here but the exit of both Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation (NYSE: PPC) and Smithfield Foods (NYSE: SFD) to focus on their chicken or pork businesses (the latter was also acquired by the Chinese) leaves just two big Thanksgiving turkey stocks, Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) and Seaboard Corporation (NYSEAMEX: SEB), for investors to consider. According to the American Far Bureau, a 16-pound turkey will (on average) come in at a total of $22.74 this year or roughly $1.42 per pound for a decrease of 2 cents per pound or a total of 30 cents per whole turkey, compared to 2015. Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation(SWHC)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Smith & Wesson’s (SWHC) stock has been under pressure ever since Donald Trump’s election victory–it appears that the perceived threat to take away guns did wonders for the gun manufacturer’s sales. Now, Smith & Wesson might also have to deal with competitive pressures that could “challenge” its market share, says Wunderlich’s Rommel Dionisio:

    Getty Images

Given the upcoming mid-January Shot Show, the firearms industrys most important annual trade show, several prominent competitors have already begun to unveil new products for 2017. The flurry of major new product introductions from leading players in the field into the two fastest growing categories of firearms, modern sporting rifles (MSRs) and compact/concealed carry handguns, appear meaningfully more competitive than usual, which could challenge Smith & Wessons (SWHC) market share, which had been rising impressively the past several years. Industry sales are also likely to slow, following unusually high growth in 2016. We maintain our price target of $26, derived using an EV/2016E EBITDA multiple of 6.0x.

Shares of Smith & Wesson have dropped 1.5% to $21.78 at 12:07 p.m. today.

Exploding biotech names are nothing new to this bull market. You might recall the headline swirling around Endocyte Inc. (NASDAQ:ECYT) as it posted one-day gains of more than 150% during the fourth quarter. The triple-digit move was sparked by a licensing agreement for the firms phase 3 prostate cancer drug. Now, these moves are becoming almost commonplace.

Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd.(TSM)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ashraf Eassa]

For many years, NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) has relied on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE:TSM) to manufacture the graphics chips it designs. Today, most of NVIDIA’s Pascal architecture-based graphics processors — from the GeForce GTX 1060, designed for mainstream PC gamers, all the way through its cutting edge Tesla P100 datacenter accelerators — are manufactured by TSMC.

To illustrate my point, Intel’s chief competitor, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE:TSM), has said that its 7-nanometer technology, which should go into mass production in the first half of 2018, delivers a roughly 1.63-fold density improvement over its 10-nanometer technology.

  • [By Ashraf Eassa]

Contract-chip manufacturing giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE:TSM) recently announced its earnings results, provided forward guidance for the current quarter, and provided a lot of insight on the ramp-up of its next-generation chip-manufacturing technology, called 10-nanometers (10nm for short).

  • [By Ashraf Eassa]

As part of this discussion, he took the time to explain how the technology that Intel calls 14 nanometers is more like what its competitors — Samsung (NASDAQOTH:SSNLF) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.(NYSE:TSM) — call 10 nanometers (smaller is generally believed to be better).

  • [By Ashraf Eassa]

A while back, DigiTimes reported that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE:TSM), a major contract chip manufacturer, planned to introduce an enhanced variant of its 16nm manufacturing technology dubbed “12nm.”

Leuven, Belgium-based Tigenix (OTC:TGXSF) filed to go public in the U.S. in late 2015, only to become entangled with Bavarian Nordic (OTC:BVNKF) and Basilea Pharmaceutica (OTC:BPMUF) as the European drugmakers pulled back from NASDAQ. Tigenix subsequently increased its bank account following a 23.75 million placement in Belgium, and added an additional 25 million via a relationship with Takeda, before coming back to Wall Street in October 2016 with a revamped slate of underwriters.

Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Invest In Right Now: BlackBerry Limited(BBRY)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Piyush Arora]

The point that Im trying to make is that BlackBerry is facing an acute shortage of apps, and the fixes available to mitigate the issue, are getting outdated and might not necessarily work in 2017. The company needs to do something about its BB10 OS, otherwise, its remaining base of loyal users might abandon the platform as well. BlackBerry’s (NSDQ:BBRY)turnaround has been moving at snail’s pace. In that context, BlackBerry’s deal with Ford (NYSE:F) to expand usage of its QNX software in the latter’s line of connected cars was welcome news. Many see BBRY’s focus on automotive technology as a potential profit center. Norwegian security firm, Promon, recently gave a demonstration of howTesla (NSDQ:TSLA) cars can be stolen by hackers through the company’s official android application, which many car owners use to interact with their vehicles. This was one of the latest unflattering events to take place for Tesla. But this very news can be good for Blackberry. Here’s why.

  • [By Lisa Levin]

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ: BBRY) reported an unexpected profit for the first quarter. However, sales trailed expectations. The company also announced a stock buyback program.

  • [By Jack Foley]

BlackBerry(NSDQ:BBRY)stock is a very volatile stock. When the company announced its latest set of earnings on the 20th of December, the share price rose to around $8 a share, but since then has plummeted back down to the $7 level. Blackberry is unique in that it is a low priced stock but is just as liquid as many of its peers. This combined with the volatility of the tech sector attracts all types of investors and traders as volatility is a guarantee (which we have obviously seen over the past week or so).

Shares of Ontario-basedsoftware companyBlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) jumped more than 16% in yesterday’s trade, creating a new 52-week highafter the company announced that it has won a windfall of $814.9 million in an interim arbitrationaward against Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM).Moreover, the arbitration award is not appealable by Qualcomm. The final award which will include interest rates and legal fees will be decided on May 31st. The windfall gain has earned BBRY stock price target upgrades from several analysts. The arbitration relates to an overpayment of royalty by BlackBerry Ltd between 2010 and 2015. The question now is, does this one-time award change anything for BlackBerry Ltd stock?

  • [By Sreekanth Anasa]

Shares of San Diego, California-based QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM)plunged further, losing more than 3.5% in yesterday’s trade. QCOM stock is now near its lowest levels since the post-earnings sell off. QCOM stock dipped on account of the smartphone chipmaker losing an arbitration case against BlackBerry (NASDAQ:BBRY). Qualcomm was ordered to refund a sum of nearly $815M to the software company. This comes on the back of the San Diego company’s latest countersuit againstApple (NASDAQ:AAPL). QCOM stock had already been battered this year on account of its mounting legal troubles. With Qualcomm stock trading at such low levels, investors could be puzzled about whether they should buy this dip in QCOM stock. Is QCOM stock headed much lower? Will Qualcomm stock rebound ahead of its earnings? Let’s take a closer look.

Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Canon, Inc.(CAJ)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Dan Carroll]

Nikon’s story is similar to what’s plaguing its Japanese rival, Canon (NYSE: CAJ  ) . Canon’s stock has nosedived by 20% year to date, but the stock’s recovered nearly 3% over the past month. Don’t let appearances fool you: The company slashed its full-year sales and profit forecasts back in July, as the worldwide camera market has slumped, and as smartphones continue to take over this aging niche. Canon’s route back to respectability looks like a treacherous climb.

  • [By Paul R. La Monica]

Miscellaneous shorts. Lamensdorf is also betting against Japanese printer and camera giant Canon (CAJ) since he believes the company still hasn’t figured out a way to compete with smartphones.
