Top 10 Cheap Stocks To Invest In 2019

The days of dominance for the largest rooftop solar companies appear to be coming to an end. With the TPO (third-party ownership) model starting to lose momentum, companies like SolarCity (NASDAQ:SCTY), Vivint Solar (NYSE:VSLR) and Sunrun (NASDAQ:RUN) will likely have an increasingly hard time moving forward. While these companies are starting to adapt to this new solar environment, they have little chance of regaining their previous market dominance. As the customer-owned rooftop solar model continues to gain steam, regional installers are starting to gain a foothold.

Given that regional installers can compete on the loan and cash sales front, there should be far more competition for the likes of SolarCity and Vivint Solar. These large companies will no longer have the large financing edge that they used to have in a TPO-dominant market. With customers becoming more knowledgeable about the intricacies of rooftop solar, it is only natural that they begin to gravitate more towards relatively cheaper loans and cash sales. With smaller competitors flooding the residential solar space, larger corporations will have to innovate and adapt or risk losing even more market share.

Top 10 Cheap Stocks To Invest In 2019: International Business Machines Corporation(IBM)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Anders Bylund, Chris Neiger, and Ashraf Eassa]

Anders Bylund (IBM): Yes, this is the good old Big Blue you and your grandfather always knew. But it’s not the same old IBM, and that’s exactly why I’d recommend it over investing in bitcoin today.

  • [By Timothy Green, Neha Chamaria, and Rich Smith]

You could play the bitcoin “greater fool” game, and it might work out if you get lucky. But buying shares of high-quality companies is a much better strategy. Which stocks should you buy? Take a look at International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM), Canopy Growth (NYSE:CGC), and SolarEdge (NASDAQ:SEDG).

There has been no shortage of partnerships backing up these advantages. Dow component IBM (NYSE:IBM) is arguably leading the charge on blockchain acceptance. IBM is pioneering a project at a dozen major banks in the South Pacific that’s aiming to expedite transaction settlement over its proprietary blockchain network. This project involves using Stellar’s Lumens coin as an intermediary currency to speed up settlement times on cross-border money flows.

  • [By Keith Noonan, Chris Neiger, and Daniel Miller]

Chris Neiger (IBM): I have to get this out of the way first: IBM is not for everyone. The company’s top line has fallen for 22 consecutive quarters and in the third quarter of 2017, its earnings fell 4% year over year. It’s no wonder then, that IBM shares are trading at just 13 times the company’s trailing 12-month earnings, and 11 times estimated forward earnings — both ratios far below the tech industry’s average.
