Top 5 Energy Stocks To Invest In Right Now

Stocks discussed on the in-depth session of Jim Cramer’s Mad Money TV Program, Monday, November 28.

The so-called Trump Rally can’t last forever. But Mad Money’s Jim Cramer said Monday he doesn’t see any signs of the ongoing move higher coming to an end.

During Monday’s installment, Cramer offered ideas on what could impact the rally, for better or worse, and whether they’d be impacted by a Donald Trump presidency or not.

One impact investors should watch carefully is if companies stop offshore activities and bring production and manufacturing back to the U.S. (could that hurt the cost of goods?). Investors also should observe the energy business closely. For example, currently natural gas storage is high, and that impacts the sale of coal. A lack of coal use is challenging for railroads.

Top 5 Energy Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Devon Energy Corporation(DVN)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Tyler Crowe, Matthew DiLallo, and Reuben Gregg Brewer]

So we asked three of our investing contributors to each highlight a company they think has a compelling investment case right now in the oil and gas industry. Here’s why they selected Devon Energy (NYSE:DVN), Range Resources (NYSE:RRC), and ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM).

  • [By JJ Kinahan]

Energy was the other S&P sector in the green yesterday, helped by rising oil prices and excitement about the tie up between Marathon Petroleum Corp (NYSE: MPC) and Andeavor (NYSE: ANDV). Devon Energy Corp (NYSE: DVN) was the biggest gainer in the sector, rising more than 5 percent after the company raised its annual production forecast. (See more on oil below.)

Meanwhile, Devon Energy (NYSE:DVN) and Hess (NYSE:HES) both started with smaller authorizations that they’ve since expanded. In Devon Energy’s case, it initially set a $1 billion buyback program, which at the time was enough to retire 6% of its outstanding stock. However, after selling its midstream business, Devon added $3 billion to its authorization, giving it the cash to buy back 20% of its shares. Hess, meanwhile, started off with a $500 million buyback program last fall, which it boosted by $1 billion earlier this year, enough to retire about 10% of its shares at the time.

Oil prices are at levels we haven’t seen in years. U.S. crude topped $70 for the first since 2014, as U.S. President Donald Trump appeared increasingly likely to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal and reinforce sanctions on Tehran. In addition, OPEC has announced plans to bolster prices and cap production. For oil investors, Money MorningGlobal Energy Strategist Dr. Kent Moors says it’s time to buckle up. According to Moors, revoking the Iran deal would cause “price chaos” around the globe. And that’s right as driving season starts in the United States. Here’s more on the coming chaos for oil. In deal news, Blackstone Group (NYSE: BX) announced it will purchase Gramercy Property Trust (NYSE: GPT) for $7.6 billion in cash. Grammercy manages commercial real estate. While this may seem like a boring deal, Blackstone is buying a business that churns out cold hard cash for its investors. We want to keep this deal on your radar, because there are many other deals like this coming down the pipeline. We’re going to be discussing one of the best real estate opportunities available very soon – so keep an eye out for updates.
Three Stocks to Watch Today: AMZN, AAPL, TSN, SBUX
Shareholders of Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) cheered statements made by Warren Buffett over the weekend. The Oracle of Omaha said he messed up by not investing in Amazon and Alphabet Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOGL). “I made the wrong decisions on Google and Amazon,” Buffett said on Saturday. “We’ve looked at it. I made the mistake in not being able to come to a conclusion where I really felt that at the present prices that the prospects were far better than the prices indicated.” Buffett says he now has a “very, very, very high opinion” of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. The Oracle believes that Bezos has created something that is “close to a miracle.” Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) added another 0.6% Monday, to reach $185.00 per share – a new 52-week high. The uptick came after Warren Buffett announced
