The Indian equity marketwas trading on apositive note on Tuesday afternoon with the Niftygaining 26 pointswas trading at10,611 while the Sensex wasup158 points or 0.46 percent.
CNX Energy gained 1.7 percent led by Reliance Industries which jumped3 percent followed by ONGC and Indian Oil Corporation which added close to 1 percent each.
However, the Nifty metal index was the biggest drag as stocks like Bhushan Steel tanked over17 percent while Hindalco Industries fell 8.3 percent. The other losers were NALCO, Hindustan Copper, Vedanta, SAIL and Tata Steel.
The IT index was also weak, shedding over 1.5 percent led by Wipro and Tech Mahindra which was down 2 percent each followed by Infosys, HCL Tech and KPIT Technologies.

The top Nifty gainers includedYes Bank which was up 3.4 percent followed by Reliance Industries which jumped 3 percent. Bajaj Finserv, HDFC and ICICI Bank were the other gainers.
